Airline Dog Carriers

When flying with dogs it is important to get approved airline dog carriers. Each airline has certain specifications that have to be met before the animal is allowed on board. Larger breeds will have to be checked into a special live animal section of the plane underneath the cabin close to the luggage. These carriers have to be very strong and durable but still have plenty of ventilation.

Airline dog carriers for smaller dogs can often be brought into the cabin with the passenger as a carry on bag. These do not have to be as stiff and durable as ones for larger dogs but they should still have plenty of ventilation. The animal cannot be let out of the carrier when onboard the plane so it should be comfortable for the dog to sit, lay, and stand up.

To find the correct airline dog carriers check with the flight provider before purchasing a carrier. This saves a lot of time and prevents any missed flights or last minute purchases. The doors have to be secure and strong enough so that they will not bend no matter how hard the pet pushes and they have to go a certain amount into the hinge to prevent popped out doors.
